A fire that damaged a home in East Grand Forks on Thursday is being blamed on an overloaded electrical circuit.
The East Grand Forks Fire Department was called to 123 Venus Drive NE shortly before 3:30 p.m. When teams arrived on scene they reported smoke coming from the soffits on the front of the home. The residence was occupied by one adult who made it out safely.
Authorities say the entryway sustained heavy fire damage while the rest of the structure received smoke and heat damage.
Fire officials several electrical devices were plugged into the circuit – including a space heater.
