University of North Dakota senior goaltender Cam Johnson has been named National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Goaltender of the Week after backstopping his Fighting Hawks to a non-conference win and tie over Bemidji State last weekend.

Johnson turned aside 28 of 29 shots on Friday night as the seventh-ranked Fighting Hawks skated to a 5-1 road win against the Beavers. The Troy, Mich., native also stopped 18 of 20 shots in Saturday’s 2-2 overtime tie in Grand Forks, including saves on all four shots he faced in overtime. It was the third time this season Johnson has earned weekly NCHC honors and the 10th time in his career. He was previously recognized this season on back-to-back weeks in October.

In 15 starts this season, Johnson is 8-4-3 with a 1.92 goals against average, a .914 save percentage and one shutout.

Johnson and the Fighting Hawks return to NCHC action on Friday and Saturday at No. 14 Minnesota Duluth.
