UND's Bernard-Docker honored by NCHC

UND freshman Jacob Bernard-Docker has been named National Collegiate Hockey Conference Defenseman of the Week after he enjoyed a 4-point weekend in North Dakota’s non-conference sweep of Alaska Anchorage.
Bernard-Docker dished out a pair of power-play assists in Friday’s 5-2 victory, then scored North Dakota’s first goal on Saturday and set up Rhett Gardner’s game-tying goal in the third period to help the Fighting Hawks turn a pair of two-goal deficits into a 4-3 win. The Canmore, Alberta, native led all NCHC defenseman on the weekend in points (4), assists (3) and shots on goal (9), while anchoring a UND power play that went 4-for-8 in the series.
Through his first 13 collegiate games, Bernard-Docker is tied for the team scoring lead with nine points and carries a 3-game point streak into this weekend’s series at Minnesota Duluth.
Omaha senior forward Mason Morelli was named NCHC Offensive Player of the Week, teammate Evan Weninger was the NCHC Goaltender of the Week, and Denver forward Tyler Ward was the NCHC Rookie of the Week.
Bernard-Docker and the Fighting Hawks travel to Duluth on Friday and Saturday to face the defending NCAA champion Bulldogs.
