Sophomore Alivia Fraase has been named the Big Sky Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday by league officials. Fraase helped guide North Dakota to a five-win week, improving to 9-1 overall this season.
Fraase was named the Glory Road Invitational All-Tournament Team after helping North Dakota to the team title with wins over Youngstown State, New Mexico at host UTEP. The Fargo, N.D., native recorded a team-best 62 digs on the week (18 sets), including double figures in each of the first four matches.
She dug up 15 balls in the come-from-behind win at New Mexico State Thursday and matched that total two other times on the week (vs. UNLV and vs New Mexico).
Fraase becomes the second UND player in as many weeks to earn league accolades after Faith Dooleyearned the defensive nod in week one. This marks Fraase's second career Big Sky weekly honor.
North Dakota-- which leads the NCAA in wins (9)-- opens its home schedule with a Wednesday tilt against in-state rival North Dakota State at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
