Six newcomers are set to join the 2019-20 University of North Dakota hockey team. The group includes three recent NHL draft selections as well as a grad transfer from a fellow National Collegiate Hockey Conference team.

"We are proud and excited to welcome in these six young men to our North Dakota family," UND head coach Brad Berry said. "Each one of these student-athletes brings something different to our group as far as their individual high-end skill set. They all possess tremendous work ethic and compete level, team-first attitudes, humility and a strong commitment to our program. All of these qualities we value and look for in order to add to our strong culture each and every year."

Name: Carson Albrecht

Previous Team: Melfort Mustangs (SJHL)

Captained the Melfort Mustangs (Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League) in the final year of a three-year stint there ... Exploded with 89 points in 56 games in the reguar season last year, including 33 goals and 56 assists ... Added a dozen goals and eight assists in just 16 playoff games with three game-winning tallies and five multi-goal games ... More than doubled his output from a season prior, as he collected 19 goals and 17 assists in 48 regular season games in 2017-18.

Scored nine goals and had a dozen assists the year prior ... Father, Mike, was an NHL player for Detroit, NY Rangers, Pitssburgh and Toronto after a collegiate career at Wisconsin.

Helped lead the Moorhead Spuds to a pair of sectional championship games, including a state runner-up finish in 2017.

Led the Tigers to their first-ever NCHC Frozen Faceoff with an upset of Western Michigan in the quarterfinal round of the tournament ... Scored seven power-play tallies on the season, including three in the NCHC playoffs alone ... Those seven power-play goals tied for the most in the conference and ranked just outside the top 20 nationally ... Recorded a +13 plus/minus rating as a junior in 2018-19 ... For his career, Michaud has played in 114 games over his three seasons at CC, scoring 29 goals with 33 assists for 62 points.
