UND and Spectra—the firm that manages Alerus Center—have disclosed some of this year’s improvements for the UND football game day experience.

Tailgaters can enter the parking lots earlier. The lots will open at 8:00 A-M. They previously opened five hours before kickoff.

Extra rest-room facilities will be added in the lot. And the tailgate village will open two-and-a-half hours before game time.

Inside the Alerus Center, there are new security measures, including metal detectors. And among the items not allowed inside are backpacks, recording devices, noise makers and laptop computers or tablets.

Six new food items will be offered, including a prime rib sandwich, and the “Coach Bubba Burger”—a quarter pound sandwich with garlic chipotle bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles.

The Alerus Center is also switching to L-E-D lighting and adding a new sound system.
