A middle school in Seattle will be named for former UND basketball player Bob Eaglestaff.
A ceremony is set for Sept. 5 for the Robert EagleStaff Middle School in North Seattle, WA. The school is being renamed in memory of EagleStaff, who was a long-time Seattle educator and principal. He is credited with helping to develop Seattle’s Indian education program into one of the Nation’s finest.
Eaglestaff was born and raised on the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota. He was inducted into the North Dakota Native American Hall of Honor in 2016. He was inducted into the UND Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. Eaglestaff died in 1996.
