A Minnesota high school football game that started at 6:00 PM Tuesday, did not finish till Wednesday morning.

Crookston was playing Bagley in a Section 8AA playoff game at UMC’s Ed Widseth Field on Tuesday.

Crookston led 40-to-18 with about six minutes left, when the power went out. No lights, no scoreboard, no P.A. system.

Crookston activities director Greg Garmen said both schools decided to resume the game at 11:00 Wednesday morning.

But since they weren’t sure the scoreboard clock at Widseth Field would work, the end of the game was played at the old Les Drechsel Field, and Crookston High students were let out to watch.

Not everyone could return, so Garmen said a new officiating crew – mostly retired officials -- worked the last six minutes, and a chain gang was assembled.

Garman said it took 15 minutes to finish the game. Neither team scored, so the final score was Crookston 40, Bagley 18.
