University of North Dakota head men’s basketball coach Brian Jones announced the addition Dani Mihailovic to his coaching staff on Thursday.
Originally from Belgrade, Serbia, Mihailovic has
spent a majority of his professional career working on player development with
athletes from the National Basketball Association and from the Serbian,
Croatian and German National Teams.
“We’re excited about the addition of Dani to our coaching staff,” Jones said. “He brings tremendous character and a true passion for the game of basketball to our program. Dani comes from a deep-rooted basketball family in Serbia and he will be a tireless recruiter for us in many European communities.”
Mihailovic spent the fall of 2017 at the Detroit Pistons’ team camp and had a similar opportunity to learn from the Denver Nuggets’ staff during the summer leading into that experience. Mihailovic also has worked with Euroleague teams from Serbia and Poland.
During the 2014-15 season, Mihailovic was an assistant coach at Allan Hancock College – a member of the California Community College Athletic Association, and that team shared the Western State Conference Championship.
“I would like to thank Coach Jones for this amazing opportunity,” Mihailovic said. “I am thrilled to join the staff and be a part of the great basketball culture in Grand Forks and at UND. I am very excited about the transition to a strong conference in The Summit League. The competition is going to be great and I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season.”
Mihailovic joins Craig Heatherly and Steve Grabowski on Jones’ coaching staff.
