The defending state Class B basketball champions are picked to repeat that title at this week's North Dakota Class B State Boys Basketball Tournament.

Hillsboro-Central Valley, the Region 2 representative after winning the regional title Saturday in Grand Forks, received the NDHSAA's #1 seed heading into tournament play Thursday at the Bismarck Events Center.

The Burros will open play against Region 7 Beulah Thursday evening at 6:30 PM. Beulah survived a double-overtime thriller with Dickinson Trinity for the state tournament berth Saturday.

St. John received the second seed, and will face Wyndmere-Lidgerwood at 1:00 PM on Thursday. The Woodchucks topped Langdon Area-Edmore-Munich in Region 4, while the Warbirds upset Fargo Oak Grove in Region 1.

Minot Bishop Ryan is the #3 seed, and will take on Bismarck Shiloh Christian at 2:45 PM Thursday. The nightcap is #4 seed Stanley and #5 seed Carrington.

The tournament continues Friday, and concludes Saturday.
