A UND survey of 1,600 North Dakotans showed residents were suspicious about the state’s COVID-19 recommendations, but responded to evidence.

The statewide survey done last fall by the Institute of Policy and Business Analytics assessed people’s attitudes and behaviors related to the pandemic.

Asked about their top three concerns related to COVID-19… 24 percent said they had none.

Asked how likely they were to get vaccinated if an FDA-approved dose became available… the average rating on a scale of 1-to-10 was 5.22.

Thirty-seven percent supported government-mandated business shutdowns…

78 percent supported businesses implementing social-distancing guidelines…

72 percent supported forced quarantines for people who’d been exposed to or contracted COVID…

and 61 percent supported government limits on crowd sizes.

Sixty-seven percent supported opening all state schools to in-person instruction.

Asked where they found the most trustworthy info on the pandemic…. 42 percent said traditional news sources… 22 percent said the CDC… and 21 percent said the state health department website.
