There will be additional testing of students at Phoenix Elementary School today (11/14) in light of a second student identified with Tuburculosis. Health officials say the child identified Tuesday is in the same household as the first case announced Friday. In addition another child in the household has also been diagnosed with TB. This brings the number of active cases in Grand Forks County to ten since September and twelve since March. Health officials started testing classmates on Tuesday and additional students will be screened today. Altru’s Infectious Disease Specialist Dr-James Hargreaves says TB can be a complicated illness and all testing is simply precautionary. Results of the student testing on should be available later this week.
