Emergency sirens sounded briefly in Grand Forks this morning as technicians were working on the alert system. Crews were making repairs after a lightening strike hit the downtown disptach building last month. The siren system has been functional since the strike but needed some fine-tuning. While the repairs were being made the sirens blasted for a few seconds shortly before eight-30 a-m. Ault says as long as the technicians were in town they also tied the warning sirens into the warning system on the University of North Dakota campus so both can be fired jointly -- if needed.
