Striking workers at the J-R Simplot plant in Grand Forks have rejected the latest contract offer from the company. The two sides met Wednesday to try and resolve differences that prompted some 200 workers to walk off the job August 4th. In an email to K-N-O-X News Simplot spokesman Doug Cole says the company is “disappointed that Teamsters Local 120 has voted to continue striking despite our willingness to engage in constructive dialogue to get everyone back to work.” Cole says Simplot remains optimistic that a resolution can be found but will proceed with plant operations to satisfy customer demands. The main stumbling blocks include health premium costs…pension plan changes…and lengthening work shifts.
