A Thompson (ND) boy took a pledge to always wear his seat-belt and is now glad he did.  Stephen Peichel’s name was drawn from some 12-thousand pledge forms as part of the activities for 2013 child passenger safety month.  For his efforts the Grand Forks Sheriff’s Office presented Peichel with a giant stuffed teddy bear on Thursday.

Motor vehicle crashes continue to be a leading cause of death for children one to 13 years old, with more than 939 fatalities in 2011.  Estimates suggest that more than 12,200 children were saved by car seats and seat belts in 2011.
