The nation’s median age climbed to 37-point-four years in 2012 – up from 37-point-three one year earlier. According to a new census bureau report out today (thurs) six states experienced a decline in median age led by north Dakota where it fell by point-five years to just over 36. U-n-d economist dr-david Flynn has been working on his own population models and finds the 20 to 24 year age group is growing in Grand Forks.
flynn says there are potential economic advantages as the result of the in-migration both in terms of spending and employment.
the census report also suggests north dakota is one of only ten states where males make up the majority of the population.
