Xcel Energy crews are heading south to help restore power to as many as seven million customers following Hurricane Irma. The majority of outages are in Florida. Approximately 70 employees from Minnesota…North Dakota…South Dakota…and Wisconsin are part of the convoy – including a crew from Grand Forks. The group left for the hard hit southeast on Sunday. Emergency management officials warn people to be prepared for some prolonged and extended outages.
In addition to Upper Midwest crews the utility is sending 400 workers and contractors from Colorado…Texas…and New Mexico to help with restoration efforts.
