The arrival of September puts an end to the meteorological summer months of June…July…and August. According to the National Weather Service the average summer temp was slightly above the norm for the three months. The warmest day occurred on June second when the thermometer hit 93 at the N-W-S office and 96 at the G-F-K.
Rainfall also came up short at both reporting stations. The numbers suggest it was the 13th driest on record at the airport and 38th driest of the past 123 years at the N-W-S.
Looking ahead the Climate Prediction Center expects the remainder of September to be above normal for temps and below normal for precipitation.
