Hundreds of people lined the streets as the U.S Capitol Christmas Tree rolled into Grand Forks this morning. The tree originated from the Kootenai National Forest in Montana and is making a three-thousand mile trek to Washington D.C. Larry Spiekermeier is driving the truck with the 79 foot Engleman Spruce on board. The Casselton (ND) native says he moved to Montana in 1975 and has been driving a truck for over 49 years. Spiekermeier says this run is the "crown jewel of a hauling career."
The tree is scheduled to arrive at the U.S. Capitol on November 27th.
