A consultant may be brought in to study the placement of medians along University Avenue in Grand Forks. The analysis would be a joint project between the city and the University of North Dakota. The focus would be on the stretch that runs from Columbia Road to 42nd Street. Assistant City Engineer Mark Walker says the city would likely take the lead in hiring process. Walker says the consultant will need to have a background in traffic safety and median layouts.
U-N-D is looking to complete the report prior to a scheduled mill and overlay of University Avenue in 2020. Walker says the goal is to make sure the medians work well yet provide the aesthetics the university is looking for.
