The southern section of a Grand Forks strip mall was closed until further notice Friday afternoon, because of structure damage.

Truss failures were reported in the Elite Nails store in the South Towne Square complex at Columbia Road and 32nd Ave. S., according to Grand Forks building and zoning administrator Bev Collings.

Collings said the store also sustained some water damage because of heavy snow and melting, but the roof has not collapsed.

"No one got hurt or anything like that," she said. "I believe they're going to try to remove a lot of the snow and some of the water and then try to evaluate the structure from there."

Several other businesses are in the building, which Collings says is owned by a Fargo company, called South Towne Square.

She said it’s not known when the building will re-open.
