Nature provided her own fireworks in parts of the region last night. While Grand Forks / East Grand Forks escaped
the bulk of the nasty weather other areas south and east got pounded with heavy
rains…lightening…and hail. The threat of
hail and high winds prompted the National Weather Service to issue a number of Severe
Thunderstorm Warnings throughout the night.
Although no major structural damage was reported there were a few windows shattered by two-and-a-half inch hail near Hannaford in Griggs County. Two inch hail was spotted five miles south of Buxton. One-and-three quarter inch hail was reported near Thompson…Florian…and Sibley. A wind gust of 50 miles per hour was clocked in Otter tail County.
