The family's first lawsuit over what they believe was the murder of their 20-year-old son, Andrew Sadek, was dismissed in May. The appeal requests that the North Dakota Supreme Court overturn that decision. The suit accuses Richland County and Sheriff's Deputy Jason Weber of negligence…fraud…and deceit in their recruitment of Sadek, who was found dead of a gunshot wound in the Red River in 2014.
