Red River Rising

Recent rains are putting pressure on river levels in the Red River Valley. The Red River in Grand Forks / East Grand Forks is expected to climb over flood stage of 28 feet late today (Fri) or early tomorrow morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for Grand Forks north to Oslo (MN). N-W-S Hydrologist Amanda Lee says heavy rains in Fargo-Moorhead and points south are having an impact. Lee says some areas to the south received over five inches of rain earlier this week.
Flooding along the Red River is normally associated with spring runoff -- but Lee says it can happen during the summer as well.
The Red River is expected to crest locally on Sunday at around 30 feet – and fall below flood stage of 28 feet on Tuesday.
Fargo is expected to crest today at 21 feet – falling below flood stage of 18 on Tuesday.
