A 25-year old Oklee (MN) man is dead in what the Red Lake County Sheriff’s office labels as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities were called to the northwest Minnesota home Wednesday evening (6:30 p-m) on a welfare check - a woman stated her granddaughter was involved verbal argument with her husband.
When a deputy arrived on the scene he found the woman standing outside the house with a two year old child. She told the deputy her husband was inside – alone. While the two discussed the incident they heard a single gunshot from inside the home.
Red Lake County Sheriff Mitch Bernstein says additional officers arrived on scene and attempted to contact the husband. When they couldn’t get a response a robotic camera was utilized and discovered the body. Bernstein says a .45 caliber pistol and one empty casing was recovered at the scene
The S-O identified the victim as Michael Hamlin-Jr. His body was brought to the U-N-D Pathology Department for an autopsy.
