The Grand Forks council is expected to consider another six month extension to a Letter of intent with Northern Plains Nitrogen for a fertilizer plant west of the city. N-P-N first proposed the one-point-five billion dollar project in 2013 on land near the city’s sewage lagoons. The goal was to tap the water source for producing nitrogen fertilizer. Most of the regulatory issues have been secured and the company is still trying to line up potential investors needed to break ground. The council will get an update during the Committee of the Whole meeting at 5:30 p-m.
