The director of the Grand Forks Public Library says it could be up to three years before the city is able to address whether the library should be remodeled or rebuilt.
Wendy Wendt says other city priorities have delayed that process. Wendt says critical needs in the existing building are being addressed. She said the library needs new "burners" for its boilers. Two bids were opened on Monday.
Wendt also said the library roof needs replacing after 20-plus years. The goal is to begin those repairs this fall. The current building dates back to the 1970's. A new library could cost in excess of 20 million dollars.
