A 52-year old St-Michael (ND) man has been sentenced to five years in prison on a charge of involuntary manslaughter. The U-S Attorney’s office says Richard Jackson was intoxicated and speeding when he hit a five-year old boy in May. A witness stated that Jackson stopped his vehicle after the crash to check on the child – and left after determining the boy was dead. Upon reaching his home Jackson’s girlfriend – a passenger in the car – telephone law enforcement to inform them of the crash. Authorities say an accident reconstruction team determined Jackson was traveling 59 in a 40 m-p-h zone. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
