The North Dakota Health Department is launching a series of education sessions around the state to promote awareness of H-I-V and S-T-D prevention. Earlier this month the department urged high-risk audiences to get tested for H-I-V after seeing a recent spike in infections. H-I-V Program Manager Lindsey VanderBusch says they still hear about a number of misconceptions about H-I-V even though it’s been around for longer than 30-years.

S-T-D’s hit new highs in North Dakota in 2016. Chlamydia cases shot up eight percent to nearly 35-hundred cases. Gonorrhea climbed 45-percent and Syphilis jumped 42-percent.
The forums begin later today (Fri) in Minot. A session is planned in Grand Forks on June 2nd.
