North Dakota’s Fuel Assistance Program is ready to heat up for another season. Applications for those needing help in paying winter heating bills are now available online or at county social service agencies across the state. Last year the program assisted 12-thousand-300 households. Carol Cartledge keeps tabs of the federally funded effort for the North Dakota Human Services Department. Cartledge says Congress has not yet approved funding for the coming season - but that's not unusual for this time of year.

Cartledge says North Dakota received some 19 million dollars during the 2016-17 heating season.
