ND Disaster Request

North Dakota is a disaster in the mind of Governor Doug Burgum. Burgum on Monday requested a presidential major disaster declaration because of severe drought conditions hitting farmers…ranchers…and other residents across much of the state. The request is being sent to President Donald Trump through the Federal Emergency management Agency. The declaration would activate individual Assistance program and make Direct Federal Assistance available.
Burgum says dry conditions over extended periods of time plus record breaking heat have fueled frequent wildland fires…endangered the health and safety of residents…and the livelihood of producers.
Nearly 94-percent of the state is in some level of drought – directly affecting more than 425-thousand residents.
