The Minnesota D-N-R has confirmed zebra mussels in Otter Tail County’s Walker Lake.
Officials say Walker Lake is connected and navigable to Otter Tail Lake, where the prohibited invasive species was confirmed two years ago.
A lake property owner contacted the D-N-R after finding five adult zebra mussels on an irrigation intake, while removing it for the season.
D-N-R staff found more zebra mussels on other equipment in the same area of the lake -- and where Walker Lake outlets into Otter Tail Lake.
Within the past few weeks, zebra mussels were also confirmed in Otter Tail County’s Round Lake.
