Minnesota kicked-off the 2017 road construction season today (thurs) unveiling 211 projects for motorists to be aware of this summer. MnDOT Commissioner Charlie Zelle says this year’s one-billion dollar program is comparable in dollar value to last year but with fewer projects. Zelle says in the coming years fewer dollars will be available because of inflation and fattening revenue streams. The MnDOT boss says with more than half of the state’s roads older than 50 the need is outpacing available resources.

Some of the larger projects in northwest Minnesota include:
• Bemidji- Highway 2 and Highway 197 resurfacing
• Deer River- Highway 2 resurfacing
• East Grand Forks- Highway 2 Kennedy Bridge
• Winger to Callaway- Hwy 59 resurfacing
