Battle lines are forming on the issue of recreational marijuana in Minnesota.
Gov. Tim Walz recently ordered state agencies to prepare for “legalization” despite GOP opposition.
House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler said he plans to sponsor a legalization measure next year.
DFL Senator Jeff Hayden says the discussion should include how those with past convictions are treated… how the current system only benefits the black market… and the revenue benefits of regulating its use.
Republican Senator Roger Chamberlain says making pot legal for recreational use smacks of lunacy. He says it’s poison - pure and simple.
At last count, 11 states and the District of Columbia have legalized marijuana.
