The Minnesota Department of Revenue has announced plea agreements have been reached with two Illinois men charged with smuggling untaxed tobacco products into the state. The Washington County Attorney’s Office says Mohammad Abdul Majid and Iman Ugurlu received five years of probation for felony aiding and abetting the sale of untaxed tobacco. The men will also pay more than 74-thousand dollars in restitution.
The charges stem from a traffic stop by the Minnesota State Patrol which uncovered more than 78-thousand dollars of untaxed tobacco products. The products seized was the largest known seizure of such products in Minnesota history.
