The executive director of the Northlands Rescue Mission says the Mission is making a dent in area homelessness.

Sue Shirek says from July 2018 to June 2019, the Mission provided 13,374 nights of housing.

"That equaled out to be 351 men (and) 95 women for a total of 446 unduplicated clients," Shirek said. "Out of that total, 219 people left us for positive housing. No longer homeless."

Shirek says the average stay in the past year was nearly 30 days long. That’s six days fewer than the previous year and 138 fewer than in 2015-16.
