Maxson declares candidacy for GF County Sheriff

Longtime Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Deputy B.J. Maxson on Tuesday announced he is running for the top job in his department.
Lt. Maxson is a candidate for county sheriff in next year’s election.
Maxson says he feels his 23 years in the department are a big plus.
Maxson, 52, says his
priority would be the citizens of Grand Forks county.
Bob Rost does not plan to run, but has announced plans to run for county
Maxson is the fourth man to declare his candidacy for Sheriff, joining Andy Schneider, a sergeant with the sheriff’s office; former deputy Mike Lee, and UND Police Sergeant Danny Weigel, who is also on the Grand Forks city council.
The primary election is set for next June. The top two vote-getters will then run in the November 2018 election.
