The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a Valley City woman sustained minor injuries when her SUV struck a large object on I-94 in Cass County on Monday afternoon.
Troopers say 39-year-old Maggie Carlson was westbound in the left lane of I-94 near the Maple River bridge, when she saw a piece of debris in her lane.
Officials say, because of traffic, Carlson was unable to swerve right, so she swerved left -- toward the median -- struck the debris, and lost control of the SUV, which hit a guard rail on the bridge, then rolled onto its drivers side.
The Patrol says the debris was a step-system from the side of a semi-tractor, consisting of aluminum steps and fiberglass paneling about 12-to-14 feet long.
Troopers say Carlson was able to get out of the vehicle, and later received treatment for minor injuries.
