Kennedy Bridge Upgrades

This is day two of the Kennedy Bridge closure. The shutdown is allowing work crews to pour concrete deck forms on the north side of the structure. Two lanes of travel should re-open sometime Friday.
Traffic is being detoured to the Sorlie Bridge on DeMers Avenue. Despite an increased vehicle presence traffic has been moving through the downtown without significant delays.
The Kennedy Bridge was built in 1963 and handles around 23-thousand vehicles per day.
The bridge should be open to four lanes of traffic prior to the upcoming winter season. The rehab project carries a 15-point-six million dollar price-tag.
