The Kennedy Bridge linking Grand Forks and East Grand Forks will be closed to traffic starting at nine p-m tonight. The closure will allow work crews to use jacks to transfer the bridge onto a newly constructed permanent pier. During the shutdown traffic will be detoured to Demers Avenue and the Sorlie Bridge. The Kennedy is expected to reopen at six a-m on Thursday.
The Kennedy Bridge rehab is a two year project that will cost nearly 16-million dollars. Over 23-thousand vehicles over the river crossing each day.
