North Dakota and Minnesota D-N-R officials are reminding boaters and anglers to help stop the spread of aquatic invasive species – including zebra mussels. Less than two-percent of Minnesota’s lakes are listed as infested. Zebra mussels have also been identified in the Red River. North Dakota A-N-S Specialist Jessica Howell says four invasive species have been identified in the state – two plants and two animals.Last year North Dakota adopted new rules requiring all drain plugs to be removed during any out-of-water transport.
Minnesota will also enlist the services of two new K-nine dogs to help locate zebra mussels on boats and trailers this summer season.
