The Grand Forks council is scheduled to review a number of road construction bids tonight. Two of the three largest projects this summer season appear to be above engineer estimates.
A concrete panel repair upgrade on North Washington from 8th Avenue North to Gateway Drive will cost over one-point-two million dollars. The engineer estimate was a little over one-million dollars.
The downtown DeMers Avenue reconstruction from the Sorlie Bridge to 6th Street was pegged at over six-million dollars. The sole bid on the project was 32-percent over estimate - at more than eight-point-one million.
The low bid for the reconstruction of University Avenue through the U-N-D campus is eleven-point-nine million dollars – some 600-thousand below the engineer estimate.
The council meets at 5:30 p-m.
