After a lengthy debate the Grand Forks council opted to downsize the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission from 15 to nine members. Under the plan the P-and-Z would be comprised of six at-large members and three appointed by the county.

The change also removes the mayor and two city council members from the commission. The city engineer will still have a seat on the commission as an ex-officio member. The change takes effect July 1st.

The council has requested a one-year review to make sure the changes are working as planned.
