Another candidate has entered the race for sheriff of Grand Forks County. Jim Remer is a 27-year veteran of the Grand Forks Police Department. He currently serves as Deputy Chief of Police. Remer says if elected he plans to work to foster more community interaction between the public and G-F-S-O.
"Fiscally we will handle the taxpayer's money correctly...we will work the the personnel and the good team already in place at the sheriff' department...and ensure we are responding to things correctly."
The other candidates include: Lt-B-J Maxson and Sgt-Andy Schneider of the sheriff’s department…U-N-D Police Sgt-Danny Weigel…and former deputy Mike Lee.
Current Sheriff Bob Rost has announced he will not seek another term.
