Another candidate has surfaced in the race for Grand Forks Sheriff. Andy Schneider has announced he’s in the running for the job now held by Bob Rost. Schneider is a 12 year veteran of the department and is currently at the rank of Sergeant. He is also a member of the Regional Swat Team and serves as president of the Grand Forks County Deputies Association.
In a prepared statement Schneider says his focus is to keep streets and communities safe…provide a positive law enforcement influence on young people…and maintain a reasonable budget to avoid tax increases.
Current Sheriff Bob Rost has indicated he will not seek reelection.
U-N-D Police Sergeant Danny Weigel previously announced his intentions to seek the job.
