A Grand Forks fifth-grade teacher is one of four finalists for North Dakota’s Teacher of the Year award.
Leslye Thiery of Discovery Elementary was honored in a ceremony at the school Friday by State School Superintendent Kirsten Baesler.
Thiery previously taught at three other Grand Forks elementary schools – Viking, Wilder and Ben Franklin.
Other finalists are from New Rockford-Sheyenne High School and Mapleton Elementary in Cass County. The fourth finalist will be identified next week in Minot.
The winner will be announced by the end of September.
