The Grand Forks Police Department is a step closer to getting reaccredited for another four years. An on-site inspection team has released a report giving the department a thumbs up. The findings now go to CALEA – The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
P-D Lt-Derick Zimmel says the department will appear before a CALEA review committee November 18th in Jacksonville (FL). Zimmel says for two professionals to visit Grand Forks and issue a positive report feels pretty good.
Only two other law enforcement agencies have achieved accreditation in the state – the Bismarck P-D and North Dakota Highway Patrol.
