With continued talk about another BRAC round at some point Grand Forks officials are already looking ahead. It comes as the city begins preliminary work on a 2018 operating budget. The Grand Forks Air Force Base was realigned in 2005 with an unmanned aircraft mission over tankers. City Administrator Todd Feland says funding for base retention was cut at the state level from $1.5 million split between Grand Forks…Fargo…and Minot to 200 thousand dollars each. He says with less state dollars the city will have to decide how it wants to proceed.
He says local funding will have to be a conversation moving forward at the city… county….chamber…and E-D-C levels.
