North Dakota lawmakers have approved another 30-million dollars in funding for the Grand Forks water treatment plant. That brings to 65-million dollars doled out by the state to help fund the local water project. The city is funding its share of the 150-million dollar plant through water rates after voters rejected a three-quarter cent sales tax. The city has not ruled out another sales tax plan to fund water and roads. City Administrator Todd Feland is preparing a list of options and rate plans for the council to consider.
The water bill also includes 30-million dollars for the Red River Valley Water Supply project. Under the plan 17-million goes for planning and permits and 13 million for phase one construction.
