Late starts…school cancellations...closed roads…and No Travel Advisories were common themes throughout the northern Red River Valley this morning. The North Dakota Department of Transportation and North Dakota Highway Patrol closed I-29 from Fargo to the Canadian border until late this morning due to zero visibility and life-threatening driving conditions. Highway 2 was also shut down for several hours between Crookston and East Grand Forks.
A peak wind gust of 47 mph was recorded at the Grand Forks Airport. The National Weather Service in Grand Forks received 6.1 inches of new snow. Students were given the day off from school in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. Grand Forks city and county governments also called things off today.
